You buy Guaraná nuts in small bags to carry and nibble on the way, or in larger quantities (1/2kg) to grind them fresh, or to freeze and preserve them.
These nuts are in shell and come from a fair trade, Demeter certified cultivation in Brazil.
Not comparable to the usual qualities of mass production from Bahia, Brazil. These nuts are identical to those from the Amazon. With the difference that they are not obtained by encroaching on the jungle, but are grown in areas where there used to be jungle (Mata Atlantica) and are now being reforested with such plantations.
